As a thank you to my mom for keeping track of our photos. We know where they are and they are well cared for, what more could you want? I scanned a bunch of photos (>6 years ago) for a slideshow that ran prior to my wedding. Now here I am today, wanting to scrapbook my son and realizing that I have a picture me in a similar situation. Actually, I am pretty sure I remembered that picture when I made the decision to let him eat the cake batter. Funny how a picture can influence the decisions that we make and how we feel about our actions. I guess maybe I felt like an “adventurous” mother that day, letting my child eat raw egg whites incorporated into cake batter. Sometimes I feel like I over-analyze situations and if I never let my child experience things then he will have fewer memories. Fewer instances of just enjoying life and not letting that enigma known as “what other people think” constantly barrage our thinking. So thanks to my mom for letting me live on the “edge” and taking a picture of it…and Grant thanks you too (although now he wants to sample my cooking every time I get that kitchenaid out and doesn’t always get his way).

I have been trying to clean out my photo stash on this computer…long overdue! But I found these photos, and really loved the focal photo of Grant’s Aunt Amanda. So I decided to use them in a LO for my DYL class, of which I am about three weeks behind (I blame that on vacation…among other things)! But I feel like I am learning a lot and hopefully applying things well.

After making the thank you card was so fun, I decided to make this card after talking with a friend the other day. I just purchased this kit and think it may be my favorite of all time! I just love all the elements. Anyways, the kit is from Sweet Shoppe Designs, designer Baers Garten, Sewing with Love kit. Enjoy!

I found this great tutorial on creating a card using a digital kit…thanks to the sweetshoppedesigns.com blog. Grant just had his 1st birthday, so I thought I would make a few cards as thank you’s. So anyways, here is the pic of the card, and hope I didn’t ruin the surprise, mom 🙂 The digital kit I used is Lauren Grier Birthday Monsters.

Scrapartist.com has a free weekday workshop for the first 50 who sign up. This week the topic is journaling. Working on my winter album, here is a LO of our friends. Credits include a template from Tiffany Tillman, Paislee Press Mid Winters Flight, and Catherine Designs Winter Retreat. Journaling reads: As much as we love Grant, the rare evening with adults only is appreciated:
• We repeat ourselves less (it is easier to hear without “ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh”)
• Mental relaxation (not…what is Grant into every 2 minutes)
• Full sentences and longer words (instead of “no,” “awww,” and “come here”
• Larger bites (no cutting up food into small pieces)
• Less observation from others (let’s face it, kids attract attention)
• No rewind, pause, or abandoning the activity (we watched the whole movie and didn’t get up once)
• Not being surrounded by plastic and playschool (although the color scheme is stimulating)
• A quiet ride home (Grant is definitely worn out after too much fun at the grandparents)

I made this LO for my Grandmother as a Christmas gift (mom’s idea)! The first picture is of my son (Grant), my cousin’s son, and my Grandmother. The second photo is me, my cousin, and my Grandmother. Such a fun idea! The kit I used was from Createwings Designs Into the Night.
